Cover Supervisor/HLTA

Northease manor school are looking to recruit a Cover Supervisors/HLTA. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing school at an exciting time.

Role Purpose:

To:

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. The primary

focus when supervising will be to maintain good order and to keep the students on

task.

  • Complement teachers' delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the

development of other support staff, pupils and school policies and strategies

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle

and the management/preparation of resources when cover is not required

  • Provide support for pupils, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards by

achievement of all pupils, by utilizing advanced levels of knowledge and skills when

assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to

encourage pupils to become independent learners to provide support for their welfare,

and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life

  • Provide supervision at breaks and lunchtimes
  • Provide cover for tutor sessions as required
  • Actively promote the educational aims and ethos of the School

An understanding of the challenges facing young people and the desire to help young people overcome these challenges on a day-to-day basis.

 

An ability to work with calmness and empathy when under pressure

 

An ability to work within set timescales and under pressure.

 

Sound knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding.

 

Have the flexibility and resilience to deal with the reactive nature of pastoral work on an on-going basis

 

Ability to work effectively with, relate to, and earn the trust of young people, families and carers

 

Ability to work effectively with, relate to and earn the trust of teaching staff, senior managements and external agencies.

 

Proactive approach to supporting to remove barriers to young peoples' development and progression

 

Committed to continuous professional development of self and others by keeping up to date and sharing knowledge, encouraging new ideas, seeking new opportunities and challenges, open to ideas and developing new skills

 

Ability to self-motivate whilst working individually and as part of a team

 

HLTA qualification

 

Training in relevant learning strategies (eg literacy)

 

A working knowledge of Data Systems or the willingness to undertake appropriate training

 

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word).

 

Demonstrable levels of numeracy and literacy equivalent to GCSE (A-C) or NVQ level 2 (or by test)

 

Knowledge of the requirements of the national Literacy and Numeracy strategies
